The winner of the Ideato Federal House of Representatives seat in the just concluded election who is a chieftain of the PDP and spokesman of the CUPP, Ikenga Ugochinyere, has revealed the reason behind the withdrawal of former Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha from the Imo PDP governorship race.
Ugochinyere during a recent interview, explained the role the party's national secretary played which led to Ihedioha's withdrawal.
"The National Secretary becomes like a judge in his own case. The screening and production of the three-man delegates emerged from the secretary's office. The same office was used for going to the primaries. I think he could have won the primary without being in office so that everyone could have a level playing field. I told him that I would not contest in that kind of setting. I respect Sen. Anyanwu, but this is about due process. I find it morally wrong to run for office while still in office."
